Travelers should not be afraid of air conditioning in municipal public transport. Drivers are trained how to manage it so that it does not pose a danger, said the deputy head of the General Medical and Social Assistance Division of Chisinau municipality Vladimir Bolocan. The subject was raised at the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services following reports that some of the passengers ask ticket inspectors or drivers to disconnect the air conditioning system for fear that it could harm them.

In connection with the high temperatures, Vladimir Bolocan has warned the people with high blood pressure and other health problems, pregnant women and children to avoid leaving the house between 11:00 and 17:00.

Under no circumstances should children be left alone in the car, even with the air conditioning on. Vladimir Bolocan recommends parents, every time they need to leave the vehicle, to take their children with them, even if it is for short periods of time.

Last week, the heatwave assistance points were visited by over 3,000 people. An ambulance was called for 587 people who fell ill due to the high temperatures. There were reported 25 cases of heat stroke - 11 in children and 14 in adults.
