The new minister of agriculture and food industry Vladimir Bolea took an oath of office in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița. Later, he was presented to the team of the Ministry of Agriculture. He said he wants prosperous agriculture and rich farmers who pay taxes, IPN reports.

“Our task is clear. We must create conditions to have a resilient and competitive agricultural sector. It is not easy given the current challenges, but I’m confident that you, together with the team, will succeed,” Maia Sandu stated in the oath taking ceremony.

For her part, Premier Natalia Gavrilița said that most of the decisions the past 11 months came in the form of legislative proposals formulated by the parliamentary commission on agriculture and Mister Bolea himself. “That’s why I’m confident that this transition will be natural, easy and will make a good start for the development of agriculture and the food industry,” stated the official.

When being presented to the team, Vladimir Bolea expressed his full openness and support. “Agriculture is the most important sector of the national economy and the work we aim to do the next days and months is aimed at turning agriculture into a leading sector of the national economy, which would bring large taxes into our national budget. We need to ensure prosperous businesses and to develop technologies in agriculture, which would enable the farmers to cope with the challenges they face daily,” stated the new minister.

Ex-minister of agriculture Viorel Gherciu was also present at the event. Premier Gavrilița thanked him for his work and for the results achieved so far, including the finalization of the strategy for developing the agricultural sector for 2022-2024 and the drafting of the food security strategy.

Vladimir Bolea entered Parliament in 2019 and since 2021 had headed the commission on agriculture and food industry. Since 2019, Bolea had led the Delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
