The former president of the Romanian People’s Party (PPR) Vlad Țurcanu was elected first vice president of the National Unity Party (PUN). The announcement was made by PUN president Octavian Țîcu after the meeting of the party’s Political Council, IPN reports.
The PUN leader noted Vlad Țurcanu’s decision to join the team he leads is a supreme gesture of morality and this brings a breath of fresh Romanianism to the PUN.
According to Octavian Țîcu, he and his team are ready to address such subjects as the elections in constituency No. 38 Hâncești and this year’s presidential elections. “The PUN is turning powerful and through such decisions will become a party with commitments for government in the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.
Vlad Țurcanu noted he was honored to be near Octavian Țîcu, Viorel Iordăchescu (e.n. PUN’s second first vice president) and the other fellows. Namely these persons will contribute to materializing all the made approaches that remained unaddressed so far, for the benefit of all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who see their future here. He is waiting for all those who share the Romanian message and want a return to normality in Moldova to join them.
In a news conference at IPN last December, Vlad Țurcanu announced his decision to leave the PPR owing to the differences in views about the way in which the Romanian political pole in Moldova should be consolidated. He noted he could join the team of Octavian Țîcu and Viorel Iordăchescu.
