First deputy chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) Vlad Plahotniuc renounced his seat of MP. In a press briefing on October 28, the politician said he intends to launch a number of social projects and will work more with people from rural areas, IPN reports.
According to the Democrat, the parties that come to power make a mistake when they delegate their best members to work in Parliament and the Government and there is no one left to deal with the party activities. For this reason, he decided to propose the Political Council of the PDM to break the stereotypes and to make sure that competent persons serve both in state institutions and in the party’s bodies.
Vlad Plahotniuc announced he will set up a chain of social stores where the poor people will be able to purchase products at lower prices. He will also work on a social dwellings project.
The politician said that by renouncing the seat of lawmaker he first of all renounces the parliamentary immunity as he does not need it. “I entered politics when I was rich. I came as an expert businessman with managerial experience. I practically didn’t use the benefits offered by the post of Deputy Speaker. I went by my personal car on service trips and spent nothing,” he stated.
Vlad Plahotniuc called on the National Integrity Commission to verify his income statement, saying he has nothing to hide.
Ion Stratulat comes next on the list of substitute candidates of the PDM.
