Vlad Plahotniuc named First Deputy Speaker

The 19th legislature will have a First Deputy Speaker and two Deputy Speakers, Info-Prim Neo reports. In Thursday's sitting of Parliament, Democrat lawmaker Vlad Plahotniuc was elected as First Deputy Speaker, while Liberal-Democrat MP Liliana Palihovici – as Deputy Speaker. The PCRM asked for a break until January 17 to decide whether to propose a candidate for the second Deputy Speaker. Head of Parliament Marian Lupu will also serve as Acting President of Moldova.
