The First Deputy Head of Parliament Vlad Plahotniuc opened consultations with civil society. The first consultations were held in Comrat, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the official. Vlad Plahotniuc said the visit paid to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia on August 25 forms part of the program of visits that will be made by the Deputy Speaker all over the country within his consultations with civil society, which are aimed at identifying the problems faced by the communities, local authorities, businessmen and representatives of the NGO sector and contributing to drafting bills of a higher quality, which will lead to improved living standards. During his visit to Comrat, Vlad Plahotniuc had a meeting with the head of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Ana Harlamenko. The discussions were also attended by other members of the central legislature and the legislative body of Gagauzia. Ana Harlamencko said the central authorities did not devote enough attention to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia. “We are very glad that Mister Plahotniuc accepted our invitation and visited us,” she said. The topics discussed in the meeting included the Protocol of Cooperation between the Parliament of Moldova and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, which was signed earlier. The sides pleaded for strengthening cooperation between the two institutions. “We agreed to involve the Gagauz deputies in the examination of bills concerning the interests of the Gagauz people. We hope that the two legislative bodies of Moldova will reach an agreement and will cooperate in the future, both in the process of formulating legislative initiatives and in strengthening the interpersonal relations between the MPs,” said Ana Harlamenko. Vlad Plahotniuc stressed the necessity of intensifying the mutual working visits, including engaging the Gagauz deputies in drafting laws within the parliamentary commissions, and of permanently exchanging experience. “We intend to organize seminars and meetings and to host foreign delegations,” he said. Asked by the journalists why he did not meet with the Governor of Gagauzia Mihail Furmuzal, Vlad Plahotniuc said he did not plan such a meeting. While in Gagauzia, the First Deputy Speaker visited the kindergarten in Dezghingea and met with the mayor of Comrat municipality Nicolae Dudoglo, who spoke about the problems faced by the local administration, including the drinking water supply.
