The first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) harshly criticizes the political parties and the political class of Moldova and pleads for their reformation in a comment posted on his blog. In this connection, he announces a broad campaign of consultations aimed at modernizing the PDM. According to Vlad Plahotniuc, the current political class disappointed the people and should be thus reformed.

“The current system of parties reached its limits, is outdated and does not meet the expectation of the population or the country’s development needs. As the state institutions, the political class needs a profound change, not a change by which the parties cosmeticize their image or bring new figures in front, but a change where the parties start to promote policies based on the realities in the country, not on dusty patterns used in work during many years,” wrote Vlad Plahotniuc.

The political class needs to go through a transformation that will go in parallel with the institutional reform. All the parties must do changes and adjust much better to the reality, to what the people want, including the new parties that claim to represent a ‘new wave’, but that are either satellites of old parties or hideous constructions of groups of interests that are foreign to the people or even the country,” considers the politician.

According to him, what all the Moldovan parties lack is adjustment to the people’s real agenda. Vlad Plahotniuc wants the reform of the political class to start with the PDM and is confident that his party will succeed. “We have the biggest chance of succeeding because we have a good, united and well-organized team and powerful local bodies. I’m sure that after we succeed, many other parties will follow us and this perspective mobilizes me even more,” he wrote.

In this regard, Vlad Plahotniuc announces a broad campaign of consultations with the people and civil society, with political analysts from the country and abroad. “During several months, we will travel through the country, will discuss with the people, will analyze their wishes and will together look for methods of materializing these wishes in new political instruments. We will use the assistance of foreign specialists with experience in developing modern parties and of representatives of civil society so that we come before the people with an advanced and qualitatively new political approach with which they will identify themselves by the end of this year. It’s early to say how this approach will look like and how politics will look like. We will draw conclusions after we have these broad consultations,” Vlad Plahotniuc wrote on his blog.
