Democratic MP Vlad Plahotniuc was summoned and questioned by prosecutors over the frauds committed in the banking sector on July 20. Socialist MP Igor Dodon was also summoned, but he didn’t present himself, arguing he is abroad, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, last week former Prime Ministers Iurie Leanca and Chiril Gaburici and the ex-head of the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance Veaceslav Ionita were also questioned over the stealing committed at Banca de Economii. There were also questioned the vice governor of the National Bank Ion Sturzu, Acting Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu, head of the commission of inquiry into the situation in the financial-banking sector Marcel Raducan, Acting Minister of Justice Vladimir Grosu, Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovici, MP Oleg Reidman, former Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta, and former head of the National Commission for Financial Markets Artur Gherman.
Currently, the vide director of the Public Property Agency Angela Susanu and former deputy minister of economy Dumitru Godoroja are investigated as suspects in the case of Banca de Economii. These are suspected of misconduct in office in July - August 2013, which led to the loss of the state’s controlling interest in the bank.
