Vlad Filat’s consultations form part of coherent plan, analyst

Premier Vlad Filat’s intention to open consultations with civil society and representatives of parliamentary and extra-parliamentary parties and the ambassadors working in Chisinau is sincere and not at all accidental, considers political analyst Anatol Taranu. He stated for Info-Prim Neo that these consultations form part of a well thought out plan. “This is one of the multiple initiatives of Prime Minister Vlad Filat that have been made public lately. This shows that his intent to fight corruption is not accidental and emotional. He has a coherent and coordinated plan. We will find out the conclusions on July 8,” said Anatol Taranu. The analyst is convinced that these consultations will have certain effects on the state of affairs in society. “In all probability, when the Prime Minister launched the initiative to fight corruption, he already had the plan of action for achieving the set objectives,” said Anatol Taranu. The analyst believes that the opposition will avoid these consultations. “I think the opposition party will not attend the consultations. If the PCRM accepts to take part in them, the Premier’s image will only stand to gain. In fact, this is their political problem, not Vlad Filat’s. He proposed an initiative and if somebody refuses to become involved, it will mean that they simply avoid addressing a rather sensitive issue,” said Anatol Taranu. On July 4, Prime Minister Vlad Filat will initiate an extensive process to consult society, the Premier’s spokesman Igor Volnitski announced in a press briefing on Friday. He said that such a decision was taken after the situation in society became tense, affecting governance. According to Igor Volnitski, the consultations will center upon the circumstances in which the Government of Moldova works, the way in which the reforms are implemented, the progress made on the path to European integration, the fight against corruption, the sociopolitical situation in Moldova and other topics of interest to the dialogue partners. Igor Volnitski stressed that the Prime Minister initiates the consultations as Head of Government, not as a political leader.
