The Liberal Democratic Party will form a post-electoral coalition with any pro-European party, but never with the Communist Party, the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat said in a program on RTR-Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“We will never form a post-electoral coalition with the Communists, even if they change their foreign policy option and are for the European integration. They lack credibility. In 2001, when they came to power, they pleaded for joining the Russia-Belarus Union, while in 2005 were convinced pro-Europeans. Afterward they were for joining the Customs Union even if this union didn’t exist yet. Now it’s not clear what course they support,” stated Vlad Filat.
The politician also said that the PLDM is a young political party, but has rich experience and is popular with the voters. The goal of the party is to gain as many votes for continuing the European integration process as possible. Filat voiced hope that the party will win 35 seats in the future legislature.
The leader of the PLDM denied the rumors that Prime Minister Iurie Leanca imposed his own list of candidates. “We worked a lot on the list. For me, it was the hardest process ever in my position as party leader. We have many valuable people, but the list must contain only 103 persons. The list was compiled with the participation of all the local branches of the PLDM. We had a lot of discussions and made many compromises. When we reached a consensus, the Political Bureau approved the list,” he stated.
In the same connection, Vlad Filat noted that his relationship with Iurie Leanca is a friendly and correct one and he sees nothing wrong in Leanca’s decision to support his Romanian counterpart in the presidential race as Moldova’s Premier.
