Vlad Filat to make public name of new justice minister

Prime Minister Vlad Filat is to announce the name of the new minister of justice on the afternoon of April 19. He informed about this in a program on the public TV channel “Moldova 1”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Asked by the moderator if the new minister will be either the current Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim or former lawmaker of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Ion Plesca, as it was rumored, Vlad Filat said the name of the new minister will be made public only after the consultations are over. He stressed that the reform of the legal system will not stop, adding the new minister has the abilities needed to promote and complete this reform. On April 14, Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase was named by the Government as judge of the Constitutional Court. Within 30 days of the appointment, Tanase is to vacate the seat of minister. Vlad Filat reiterated that Alexandru Tanase will be a good judge ans wished him success. He did not comment on the statements that there is no democracy in decision making inside the Liberal Democratic Party or that this democracy is frail.
