Any proposal for creating appropriate conditions for the economic entities of Moldova and, as a result, for the Moldovan people must be thoroughly examined and, if possible, implemented, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said, commenting on the Communist Party’s suggestion that the ruling alliance should initiate negotiations on Moldova’s entry into the Russia − Belarus −Kazakhstan Customs Union. “Having the European integration as a clear objective, Moldova must continue on its road,” said Vlad Filat, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to the Premier, the possibility of joining this customs union must be considered both from theoretical and practical angles. Vlad Filat said a customs community means common tariff policy inside the community and outside it, towards third countries, but this runs counter to the criteria of the World Trade Organization, of which Moldova is a fully-fledged member, and the principles of the joint European free commercial area.
As to the conditions that the government creates for the economic entities, Vlad Filat said that Moldova has signed free trade agreements with all the CIS states. At the Summit of CIS Heads of Government that will take place in Saint Petersburg on October 18, there will be signed a document providing for the creation of a free trade area between the CIS countries. The main principles of this document do not run counter to the norms of the WTO and the European commercial area, said the Premier.
