Vlad Filat meets representatives of American IT giants

of Google, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu, Oracle, Gemato and Philips Medical Prime Minister Vlad Filat and other members of the Moldovan governmental delegation had a meeting with representatives of information and communication technology companies while in the U.S. on a visit. In the meeting, Vlad Filat spoke about the reformation processes initiated in a large number of areas in Moldova, including the ICT, that imply investments, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the executive's press service. The meeting was chaired by the World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Melanie Marlett. It included representatives of such companies as Google, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu, Oracle, Gemalto, and Philips Medical. The Premier stressed that the ICT area in Moldova is at the incipient stages of development, but it has good prospects. “The Government of Moldova started reforms in a large number of areas, including the ICT. We aim to develop the national economy and create conditions for attracting foreign investments,” Vlad Filat said. In this connection, he thanked Singapore for its readiness to provide assistance to Moldova in this area. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar made a presentation of the ICT in Moldova, highlighting that a draft ICT development strategy was submitted to the Government for approval. “The ITC sector has great prospects. Now it accounts for 10% of the GDP. We aim to develop this area so that all the Moldovan people enjoy services of a high quality,” Valeriu Lazar said. The meeting participants said a number of ICT services could be useful to Moldova, namely the mobile phone services for providing information about the weather for farmers.
