If the President is elected directly by the people, I will vote for Vlad Filat, Premier Vlad Filat said during a program at Publika TV, where he spoke about the successes and failures of the Government he heads, Info-Prim Neo reports. Among failures, Vlad Filat mentioned the non-election of the head of state and the continuation of the electoral period. He reiterated that the President must be elected directly by the people, not by the Parliament, and said he might declare his candidacy for the post. Vlad Filat said the early legislative elections should take place at the end of this year and his party, the PLDM, will most probably run in elections independently. However, he does not rule out the possibility of creating an electoral bloc that would include the parties that formed the Alliance for European Integration. Speaking about the Government's failures, political analyst Igor Bosan stressed during the program that the Foreign Affairs Minister has not presented the list of Moldovan Ambassadors. He also said that the Parliament has not been dissolved and the date of early elections has not been set. According to Vlad Filat, both of the problems will be solved soon. As to the appointment of Ambassadors, the Premier said the list was submitted to him long ago and he trusts the competence of Foreign Affairs Minister Iurie Leanca. He also said that the Alliance for European Integration has not yet reached a decision on this subject, but the list will be presented for approval at one of the next meetings of the Government. Afterward, Acting President Mihai Ghimpu will decide whether to accept it or not. Vlad Filat also answered questions put by the viewers. He said he knows about cases of corruption among functionaries, but no decision will be taken until they have the necessary proofs. “The time when the President was prosecutor and judge has passed. These cases should be examined by the competent bodies,” Filat said, adding that some of the cases, like the smuggling of cigarettes through the customs, are provocations aimed at damaging the image of the Premier and the Government. Vlad Filat also said that the results achieved by the Government will be felt towards the end of the mandate. “We need a longer period of time to achieve the set objectives. The tree planted now does not produce fruit immediately,” he said.
