Vlad Filat: I do not go to ministries to dismiss somebody

“I do not go to ministries to dismiss somebody or to get some satisfaction,” said Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who visited the Ministry of the Interior on April 28. After the closed-door meeting held at the Ministry, the Premier said he was satisfied with the way the reform of this institution is implemented, but there are certain drawbacks as regards internal and external communication. He suggested that the Ministry’s administration should organize more explicative activities so as to hasten the reform and clarify a number of things in the reformation process, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I hope that the messages that were sent today were heard and understood. The responsibilities of the Ministry of the Interior are enormous,” said Vlad Filat. “The reformation of the Ministry can be regarded separately as a process, but results will be achieved only when all the institutions are reformed, including the Prosecutor’s Office, and the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime.” Vlad Filat stated that they agreed to adopt a number of decisions concerning the reformation of the Ministry. A series of measures will be taken to improve the work of the Traffic Police, including installation of video cameras to monitor traffic. The Premier expressed his dissatisfaction with the work of the Ministry’s Migration Bureau, saying he wants to see results, not only figures. The Prime Minister’s visit to the Ministry of Health closed with the dismissal of the head of the Medication Agency and of the head of the Medication Procurement Division. Vlad Filat argued that the objectives set by the Government as regards the pricing policy at drugstores were not achieved. The second visit, to the Ministry of Youth and Sport, ended with no dismissals. On the contrary, the Premier praised the Ministry’s administration. He then visited the Ministry of Education and reproached Minister Mihail Shleahtitski for delaying implementing reforms in education. Minister of the Interior Alexei Roibu was proposed for the post by Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
