The priority of the relationship between Moldova and Romania is the implementation of the projects agreed during Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta’s visit to Chisinau, as well as the initiation of new project. The statement was made by Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat during his meeting with the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We have many challenges before us. I’m sure we’ll continue to work with the same progressive-minded attitude we have shown in our collaboration”, stressed Vlad Filat. The Prime Ministered reiterated Moldova’s interest in the construction of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipe and the wish to speed up the procedures regarding this initiative.
The head of Romanian diplomacy answered that the promotion of economic project, especially of those in the energy field, was a priority for the collaboration between the two countries.
The two officials exchanged opinions about the technical assistance offered to Moldova in the process of European integration. Titus Corlatean reiterated the Romanian Government’s full support for Moldova on its path towards European integration. Another discussed topic concerned the development of the Moldovan education system with Romania’s support. “We’ll organize as soon as possible a meeting between the ministers of education from Chisinau and Bucharest. Another aspect of the improvement of the situation in this field could be the placement of Romanian professors in Moldovan universities”, said Titus Corlatean.
Titus Corlatean came for an official visit in Moldova on September 13, on the invitation of his Moldovan opposite number Iurie Leanca. This is the Romanian official’s first visit to Chisinau as head of the Romanian diplomacy. During his meeting with Iurie Leanca, the two ministers signed an agreement regarding consular assistance and protection on Syrian territory. Thanks to it, Moldovan citizens in Syria will be offered direct consular assistance by Romania, which is one of the few European countries to maintain a form of consular diplomatic mission in Syria, because of the Romanian community there.
