Vlad Filat demands candidatures for Border Police head

Prime Minister Vlad Filat has requested that at the next meeting of the Government on Wednesday Interior Minister Dorin Recean names a candidate for the position of head of the Border Police, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Prime Minister’s request comes after he had sacked Roman Revenco two weeks ago. The former head of the Border Guards (since July 1, the Border Police) was accused by a businessman of asking an illegal payoff from a EU-funded project. Businessman Vladimir Volkov had previously declared that Roman Revenco took €130,000 from European funds. Volkov was shortly arrested afterwards. Currently, Roman Revenco is under investigation as well, based on Volkov’s declarations. Vladimir Volkov had also alleged that Roman Revenco was the nephew of Alexei Roibu, the former Minister of the Interior, who was recently replaced by Dorin Recean.
