The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat on June 29 called on his colleagues from the pro-European parties, especially the Liberal Party (PL), to focus on the formation of a pro-European majority at the central and local levels. At a press conference, Filat said that today they convened a meeting of the alliance, together with the colleagues from the Democratic Party, and decided to issue this public invitation, IPN reports.

“I make a call especially to the colleagues from the Liberal Party and want to congratulate on this occasion Mister Ghimpu and Mister Chirtoaca on the great victory scored in Chisinau. The call refers to two very important exercises,” said Vlad Filat, specifying he refers to the formation of a pro-European coalition at central level and the creation of pro-European coalitions at local level.

Vlad Filat said the two exercises, which are very important and imperative, should be performed immediately. “In this period, even if there was the second round of local elections, we asked holding meetings and agreeing the formation of a coalition and understood that this round of voting was probably more important for some of our colleagues, but we no longer have time,” he stated.

He also said that the discussions should be launched immediately and imposing conditions now would be counterproductive. Communication should start. “We do not want to hold talks to make a show. We want to form a parliamentary majority so as to have a Government with a powerful mandate and the necessary political support, which would be able to cope with the many challenges faced by Moldova,” said the Liberal-Democratic leader.

Earlier, the leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said that he is waiting for an invitation from the former coalition colleagues and that the PL will insist on the conditions put forward earlier.
