The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat said they are initiating discussions with the leaders of the Liberal Party (PL) and the Democratic Party (PDM) concerning the creation of pro-European coalitions at district and local levels. In a news conference on June 15, Filat said a natural process to form a parliamentary majority will also start, IPN reports.

The Liberal-Democratic leader said that despite many speculations and unprecedented propagandistic pressure from outside, the pro-European parties of Moldova won the June 14 local elections. “It is important to agree common actions so that the pro-European parties win the second round of elections,” he stated.

As to the process of forming a parliamentary coalition, Vlad Filat said the discussions are under way. “We discussed with the colleagues from the PDM and will soon have consultations with President Nicolae Timofti and the foreign partners. I hope we will manage to form the parliamentary coalition in a short period of time so as to install the Government as soon as possible,” he stated.

Speaking about the results of the elections in the municipality of Chisinau, Vlad Filat said these are the direct consequence of a disastrous election campaign aimed at destroying any pro-European force.

The leader of the PLDM also said that the head of state will soon name an interim Prime Minister and will then have consultations with the parliamentary parties for designating Moldova’s new Premier.
