The importance of the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic between Moldova and Romania was highlighted on Thursday, February 25, during a meeting between Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat and his Romanian counterpart Emil Boc. The two prime ministers met in Budapest, at the Danube summit, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vlad Filat informed Emil Boc that a working group has already been formed in Chisinau to negotiate the agreement on the €100m financial aid promised by Romania. The Moldovan prime minister said it is very important that the first installment of this aid could be made available in 2010. Filat also pleaded for speeding up the signing of the collaboration agreement between the two countries, so that Moldovan youths could have extended access to studies in Romania, it was said in a press release from the Moldovan Government. Emil Boc said he was pleased by the recent developments in the Moldo-Romanian relationship. He added that the Romanian Government would hold a sitting in Iasi in March, which would be a good opportunity to assess the implementation level of the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic.
