Vlad Filat: A lady President will bring calm to Moldovan politics

Liberal-Democratic Party leader Vlad Filat thinks that only a female President is able to pacify passions in the Moldovan politics, Info-Prim Neo reports. Speaking at the Second Assembly of Lib-Dem Women on Saturday, he said: “It's not by accident that we have come, in this enduring state of constitutional and, let me admit it, political crisis, to the decision to field a lady for President. I sincerely think that, especially today, only a lady is able to bring the necessary calm to the political processes in our country”. Filat noted that while the female members of his party had numerous initiatives and were very active, very few of them held the administrative posts reserved to the Lib-Dems in the government. He promised to right this “nonachievement” in the future. 51% of Lib-Dem members are women. MP Liliana Palihovici, the chair of the Lib-Dem Women's Organization and the party's vice president, said the party had the goal to have at least 5 or 6 ministers and 30 MPs.
