Moldova’s union with Romania is realizable in four-five years if there is political will in Chisinau and in Bucharest, said the leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) Vlad Biletski. In IPN’s electoral debate, Biletski said the Union desideratum is the key priority of his party for ensuring in Moldova the economic development witnessed in Romani. He noted the Republic of Moldova will manage to fight corruption only when the justice from Romania crosses the Prut, IPN reports.

The AUR leader said Moldova’s union with Romania
can take place in four-five years if the phenomenon of unionism is intensely promoted and the advantages of the Union are explained to the people. The union can take place either by a referendum held in Romania and in Moldova or by a vote in the Parliaments in Bucharest and in Chisinau.

“The union will definitely occur long before the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. The paradox is that we are not even potential candidates for submitting an application to join the EU, but we have been told about the European integration for years. The union is possible in four-five years if we have a pro-Romanian and pro-European parliamentary majority that would not place obstacles in this regard,” said the AUR candidate for MP.

According to the unionist, the disappearance of the border on the Prut will lead to higher living standards in Moldova as the pensions, salaries and social benefits will be raised by Romania’s model.

“Romania is a development model that should be adopted by the Republic of Moldova. We have a captured state with thieves and bandits in power. I’m firmly convinced that in such a state configuration, we can no longer repair anything or only a little. That’s why we propose the Snagov Pact of 1995 when all the political forces in Romania agreed that despite all the attacks,  they will follow one plan of action, to the West, Europe, NATO,” stated Vlad Biletski.

He noted that the Union will help Moldova reform its justice sector by fighting corruption, according to the Romanian model.

In the July 11 snap parliamentary elections, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians will be under No. 14 on the ballot.

The third electoral debate of the series “Analyzing Electoral Supply and Demand-2021”
also involved the representatives of the Party of Law and Justice and the Party of Action and Solidarity.

IPN’s fourth electoral debate set for July 2, 11:15am, will feature the election contenders Electoral Bloc “RENATO USATÎI”, the Building Europe at Home Party “PACE” and the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists.

IPN Agency stages the electoral debates as part of the series “Developing Political Culture though Public Debates”, with the assistance of the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.
