The executive secretary of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) Vlad Batrîncea, Deputy Parliament Speaker, said the government’s incapacity to manage the crisis in the country made the opposition take to the streets. The government is concerned exclusively about the country’s foreign policy and fully ignores citizens’ problems. The Socialists and Communists’ decision to protest separately is a momentary dissention that will be swiftly overcome, while the PCRM-PSRM bloc is functional, IPN reports.

The Deputy Speaker accuses the government of ignoring all the social initiatives of the opposition and of adopting bills that run counter to citizens’ interests. Vlad Batrîncea called on the parliamentary and extraparliamentary parties and on all the citizens who are dissatisfied with the work of the government to mount protests.

“The prices of products are not regulated. We formulated a number of proposals for reducing fuel prices. None of our proposals is being examined. Therefore, we started protests. The government now fully isolated itself and is preoccupied only with the country’s foreign policy and forgot about the citizens. The protests should be nationwide. Everyone should take part and exert pressure on the government so that they assume responsibility for what is going on in the country,” Vlad Batrîncea stated in the program “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel.

Even if they constituted the political bloc of the Communists and Socialists, the Party of Communists (PCRM) preferred to join in the protests staged by representatives of Șor Party. Vlad Batrîncea said it goes to a minor disagreement that does not endanger the existence of the PCRM-PSRM bloc.

“There are particular internal dissentions that we will solve rapidly. We are two different parties, with different agendas. We cooperate well in Parliament and never voted in different ways. There are different organizational aspects sometimes, but the bloc is functional. Protests should be held without party symbols. We are sure that many will join in the protests, but these should be nationwide and should bring together all those who are against the current government,” stated the heavyweight of PSRM.

On Friday, PSRM mounted protests in front of a number of state institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. The Socialists accused Minister Viorel Gherciu of inefficiency and announced that they would propose a motion against him in Parliament.
