The Republic of Moldova is a captured state, while the ruling alliance is discredited, corrupt and irresponsible and pursues an inappropriate social and economic policy that impoverishes the people and it is logical for the people to want another political class and government, Socialist MP Vlad Batrancea said in the public debate Professionalism of law enforcement bodies, behavior of the political class and protesters in the case of annulment of immunity and arrest of MP Vlad Filat, the leader of the PLDM”, held by IPN News Agency in partnership with Radio Moldova.

Speaking about the withdrawal of the immunity of Liberal-Democratic MP Vlad Filat and his arrest, Vlad Batrancea said such developments are welcome because Filat must be held accountable. “But concerns appear because our justice is selective. Why only Filat as it is the AEI that is responsible for these wrongdoings? What happened last Thursday can be described as the clinical death of the AEI 3 as the first signature on the agreement to form the alliance was put by Filat and he contributed the largest number of seats of MP. His elimination can be considered political revenge taken by the alliance partners. It is definite that an alliance in a similar format will no longer be formed,” he stated.

Vlad Batrancea noted it’s clear that Vlad Filat should be held accountable for passive corruption, but it is important what for he took the bribe. “What about the other money that was taken from the National Bank and Banca de Economii?  We want to know who was behind all those acts. Why secret ordinances were signed, why the National Bank governor implemented those decisions and what the law enforcement bodies did? It’s clear that all the law enforcement institutions were captured and that changes under the current alliance cannot take place and current Parliament can do nothing. We need early elections so that the people choose another administration. We need upright people in the law enforcement bodies,” he stated.

The MP of the Party of Socialists said that sufficient materials about the committed illegalities were provided and the Socialists voted for the withdrawal of immunity. If conclusive evidence exists about a Socialist lawmaker, they will vote the same way. “The investigation should be continued so that other names are discovered as Vlad Filat didn’t do everything himself. The transactions performed in the banking system weren’t possible without the involvement of all the state institutions, without the political cover of the ruling alliance. I’m sure that we managed to find out something owing to the protests mounted by the people,” he stated.

“Filat fell into the trap of his own greediness and interests and should be punished. If at least one fifth of what was said is proven, it would be a plausible reason to sentence him to many years in jail. The PLDM is falling apart. More members of this party will be held accountable over the next few days. The AEI no longer exists and we will witness a re-formation, but not with the assistance of Leanca.”

The debate “Professionalism of law enforcement bodies, behavior of the political class and protesters in the case of annulment of immunity and arrest of MP Vlad Filat, the leader of the PLDM” is the 42nd installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are held with support from the German foundation Hanns Seidel.
