A minority government means chaos and that any decision will be taken with difficulty and after useless debates, considers journalist and blogger Vitalie Cojocari. He stated for IPN that even if the politicians now came to terms, there will be yet many problems that will have to be every time discussed.
According to Vitalie Cojocari, the politicians in Moldova are vainglorious and become involved in struggles only for the sake of the struggle. “Moldova had earlier a minority government, but this notion hasn’t yet taken roots in the culture of the Moldovan politicians. In Moldova, which faces so many social and economic problems, it’s rather improbable that the politicians will sit at the negotiating table and will discuss the really important problems. It is their vainglory and clan interests that will dominate the discussions. This minority government is a mistake from the very beginning,” said the author of the blog cojocari.ro.
The journalist considers it is strange to see only one scapegoat being made for this situation. “It is either Plahotniuc, Filat or Ghimpu. We realize that all of them are to blame. They could not reach an agreement. Moldova needs a mediator. Somebody should come and take them to a negotiating table so that they come to terms. The EU tried. Maybe President Nicolae Timofti should have assumed the role of mediator. He may not have the power of mediator, but he showed that he has force. Remember how he replied to Vladimir Putin,” he stated.
Speaking about the effects of a minority government on the EU’s attitude, Vitalie Cojocari said he already saw serious concerns. “Representatives of the EU came to Moldova. Nothing like this happened in another country. The EU is probably concerned as they invested a lot in our country and the clan interests are now put above everything. We should not believe that the EU is naïve,” stated the blogger.
According to Vitalie Cojocari, the changes in the behavior of the Communists have both pluses and minuses. “If those who left the PCRM are right when they say that Vladimir Voronin was bought by Vlad Plahotniuc, this is good as it will be easier to pass laws. On the other hand, it’s known that Voronin does not easily yield up. He turned his back to Putin and can do the same with Plahotniuc,” he noted.
As to the statements that a foreign professional should occupy the post prosecutor general, the blogger said this is populism because one prosecutor can do nothing in Moldova alone. An army of European prosecutors is needed to reduce corruption in our country. Also, besides the prosecution service, the police should also be reformed.
