{ Info-Prim Neo news agency is unfolding an opinion poll among leaders of political parties running for the parliament. The subject of the inquiry is corruption in Moldova and solutions to hamstring it. All the participants have been asked the same two questions. This time, they are answered by Vitalia Pavlicenco, a candidate proposed by the social political movement “The European Action” for the office of president of the Parliament.} [ - What does the party you represent think about corruption in Moldova?] The message of the European Action Movement is clear: we must eliminate corruption, we must eradicate it, if we want to build a strong Moldova. Thus, all that is built on a sick foundation will redden because of the corruption virus. We have the sad experience of the last 18 years, a period in which Moldova was a headless country, led by people who saw only their interest and stole public money till the country ran dry. What does MAE think about corruption? It is the main cause of poverty in Moldova, it is the worst evil of all evils that overwhelmed our country. That is why it's time to stop it: by casting away the leaders who spread it all over the country. We annually lose 1.5 billion euros because of corruption. We have a state where poverty reached an insufferable level, where people I meet in all districts, tell me desperately that “worse than that is impossible.” Such things are inadmissible! We can’t go on like this. Dozens of schools could have been built, hundreds of roads could have been repaired, social assistance programs for poor people could have been carried out with the money stolen and wasted by the corrupt people. [ - What will MAE do to fight corruption, if the electorate consigns you the governance?] The MAE is the only party with a clear governance plan. And this is because, instead of promising much, as the other parties do, we know that the things must be solved smartly. Or, before drawing foreign investments of hundreds millions of euros a year, creating new jobs, increasing salaries and pensions, taking out Moldova from its international isolation, the MAE starts by curbing corruption. We have started with with our National Pact against Corruption, which will be immediately enforced after the April 5 elections. Our steps are concrete, pondered for a real Moldova, not the ones seen from the dignitaries' limos. We pursue to set up an independent body to probe the big corruption cases, which will help us to catch the ones getting rich from the state's properties. Another step is compelling politicians to declare all their property and economic interests, and impounding the wealth of the one having robbed the state. And, not the least, we pursue to harshen the punishments for the offenses entailing big corruption, so that the ones willing to steal public money should know they are not above the law. Our ideas of fighting corruption are shared by several democratic parties, thus recognizing, that MAE does not promise electoral measures, but reasonable projects, which can really do good to Moldova.
