The union with Romania is the only solution for the Republic of Moldova and this can be prepared with dignity by 2018 if there is political will in Chisinau and if the ruling class does not include blackmailable persons, the leader of the National Liberal Party Vitalia Pavlicenco said in the public debate “Which is the ‘lesser evil’ for the Republic of Moldova: unstable parliamentary majority, early elections, union, something else?”, which was the 49th installment of the series “Development of political culture by public debates”, staged by IPN in cooperation with Radio Moldova”.

“What happened in the Republic of Moldova during all these years shows that this state is an artificial one, without a futurem and remains a creation of Stalin and Hitler,” said Vitalia Pavlicenco, reiterating the importance of the union with Romania.

She noted that there is no parliamentary majority in Moldova because there is a struggle between clans. “Regretfully, Moldova a is situated in a part of the world where there is a Russian army making sure that we do not move towards Europe or Romania and this favors unimaginable, absolute corruption. This level of corruption created a situation when several criminal political clans control the Republic of Moldova and each clan fears that the other clan can send them to jail. We, in general, do not have a parliamentary majority,” stated the politician.

The leader of the National Liberal Party underlined the importance of adopting a lustration law, saying this will prevent persons who are blackmailed by Russia from coming to power.

Vitalia Pavlicenco said the elections during the last few years were rigged as those who control Parliament and the state institutions control also the Central Election Commission. “The early elections should take place based on particular conditions. If they are held according to the same principles, the Republic of Moldova will continue to experience agony with the current parliamentary forces that are corrupt,” she stated.

She also said that the election threshold for the early legislative elections should be decreased or annulled. A clear separation is needed between the pro-European forces and those that do not plead for European integration, giving as example the Snagov Declaration by which the political forces of Romania confirmed their support for the European integration idea.

The debate “Which is the ‘lesser evil’ for the Republic of Moldova: unstable parliamentary majority, early elections, union, something else?” was the 49th installment of the series of debates “Development of political culture by public debate” that are held with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
