The Moldovans will be able to travel visa-free to Serbia, while the Serbians will not need visas to enter Moldova. Moldova’s Parliament ratified the agreement on the liberalization of the visa regime with this country, IPN reports.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi said in Parliament that this accord is compliant with the previous agreements signed with the EU and was proposed because the Serbian citizens also do not need visas to travel in the EU (Serbia being a candidate for accession to the EU, e.n.). From political viewpoint, this is a beneficial agreement because it will strengthen the cooperation relations between the people and will intensify the commercial relations.

According to Tudor Ulianovschi, the Moldovan citizens will no longer need to travel to Bucharest to get a visa from the Embassy of Serbia. The state budget will also not be seriously affected as until now only about 500 Serbian citizens travelled annually to Moldova and paid a visa fee.

The holders of biometric passports will be able to stay on the territory of the other country for at most 90 days within six months.
