A virtual museum of the famine experienced in Bessarabia, muzeulfoametei.ro, was created by two historians in a move to familiarize the visitors with the organized famine. This is a project of Moldovan Doctor of History Mariana Țăranu and Romanian history professor Nicolae Bogdan-Tămaș, IPN reports.

The virtual museum presents stories, articles and testimonies of those who endured the famine. The materials are in Romanian and are accompanied by documents, pictures and evidence in the form of texts and video and audio recordings. “With a great passion for history and with the wish to make the truth known, we created this virtual museum,” stated Mariana Țăranu.

She noted that investigating the famine in Bessarabia, which was the last famine organized by the USSR, working with achieve documents, discussing with survivors or their children, consulting specialized literature during the last few years, she daily realized how painful this issue is for each family and how inconspicuous this drama of the Bessarabia Romanians is.

The museum is to be extended so that it also covers the public in Romania.
