The director of “Cronograf” Festival Virgiliu Mărgineanu said premieres of Moldovan films take place this year each evening of the festival. Also, many films that are outside the contest are screened in different localities in Chisinau, not only at the Odeon cinema house, which hosts the main part of the festival. The issue was developed in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“The most important and dearest project we managed to implement is “Cronograf Art” and the fusion of arts on the pedestrian street in Chisinau. We were given a big stage and an enormous screen and we show films there in the evening, starting at 9pm. Before that hour, we stage different activities, such as concerts, exhibitions, workshops, theater plays and everything that can happen in the field of arts,” stated Virgiliu Mărgineanu.

Film director Violeta Gorgos said that when the festival was launched, this included domestic news programs, but in time the Moldovan documentary film gained in popularity. “I want to believe that the filmmakers in Moldova will manage to distinguish themselves in the world, as our writers and musicians managed to because they have artistic potential,” stated Violeta Gorgos.

Romanian film director Paul Palenxar stated he has taken part in “Cronograf” for the second time. “Cronograf for me is a miracle as Romania and the Republic of Moldova regrettably go through a financial crisis that we feel more acutely in the cultural sector,” he noted, adding the festival should not only be maintained, but also developed.
