The former chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari was set free from remand detention in the courtroom and was placed under judicial arrest for 60 days, starting with February 14. The decision was taken by the Buiucani Court of Chisinau in the first hearing on the first case of Viorel Morari in which this is accused of abuse of power and falsification of public documents, IPN reports.

Viorel Morari cannot leave the country without the written consent of the court of law and must inform the court about any change of domicile and present himself in court whenever he is summoned. He also must not come in touch with the injured party and witnesses, must not to take action that can hamper the discovery of truth in the trial and must hand over the passports and papers that enable to travel abroad to the court.

The decision can be challenged within three days in the Chisinau City Appeals Court.

Two days ago, Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo told a news conference that one more criminal case was started against Viorel Morari, over unjust enrichment and money laundering in especially large amounts by using the position.

Viorel Morari was arrested on January 10.
