Not all those who make public statements about particular acts of corruption assume responsibility for making them officially too, chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari stated in the program “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“Many statements are made. The problem is that many make public statements about particular acts of corruption, but when time comes to make them officially too, they do not have the courage to. There are also persons who come for an audience. We welcome them and listen to them, but when we tell them to write so that we could investigate officially, they say they only furnished information and we should cope by ourselves further. Renato Usatyi also made particular statements in public and refused to assume responsibility when time came,” said Viorel Morari.
He also said that his inferiors investigate the statements made by Veaceslav Platon about the theft of the US$ 1billion, including those concerning the involvement of Vlad Plahotniuc in the banking fraud. “If it is confirmed that Vlad Plahotniuc is behind everyone and his actions are illegal in character, he will bear responsibility in accordance with the law,” stated the official.
He noted that the actions they take to fight corruption and Vlad Plahotniuc’ recent statements about the crackdown on corruption are only coincidences. “When I came to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, I was asked by journalists what objectives I set. I said I want to feel the smell of change and, if no changes are brought about, I should leave. Secondly, as a public figure, I assumed responsibility for what is going on. Each public figure is responsible for the developments,” stated Morari.
