“The economic recovery is a priority for the present government. Thus, as the head of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, I will contribute to the creation of a friendly environment for the entrepreneurs and investors,” said the new director of the CCCEC Viorel Chetraru, who was named to the post at Wednesday's meeting of the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Chetraru said that the CCCEC will be restructured as the economic entities and the civil society complained that it is repressive He said that stress will be laid on the elucidation of the cases of corruption among public servants and identification of the mechanisms that lead to corruption.
Asked about layoffs at the Center, Chetraru said that some of the employees will be probably dismissed, but there will be promoted the competent persons with a sense of perspective.
Chetraru also said that he has never been party member. “I am a policeman and prefer to devote all my time to my job,” he stressed.
Viorel Chetraru graduated from the Bucharest-based Academy “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” in 1996. Since 2001, she had worked as an inspector, senior inspector, main inspector and head of the economic police section at the police department of Chisinau's Centru district. In 2003, when the CCCEC was founded, he was named as head of the investigations division and deputy head of the CCCEC' local office in Chisinau. Afterward, he was transferred to the Ministry of the Interior and worked as a head of the crossborder offenses division and then of the inspection and supervision division. Simultaneously, he continued his studies and obtained a Master's Degree at the Police Academy “Stephan the Great” and at the Public Administration Academy under the President of Moldova.
