Parliament today appointed Viorel Chetraru as director of the National Anticorruption Center for a term of five years, Info-Prim Neo reports. His candidature was supported by 53 votes. The Communist group didn't participate in the voting after staging a walk-out. The so-called group of unaffiliated MPs voted against, claiming that Viorel Chetraru had earlier admitted that he was not politically neutral. Viorel Chetraru was selected by Parliament's Legal Commission from among 18 candidates for the job. Chetraru has headed the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption, renamed to the National Anticorruption Center from October 1, since 2009.
