A former police officer of the Dubasari police commissariat was found guilty on three counts – hooliganism, violence against a person holding a responsible post and driving under the influence. The court fined him 9,000 lei and put him on three years’ probation. If the former policeman has a violent behavior in the period, he will serve one year and a half in jail, IPN reports.
According to prosecutors in Dubasari, in October 2011, being under the influence of alcohol, the police officer insulted a young woman and mistreated her. He then threatened her with use of violence against her if she filed a complaint to the commissariat. However, the victim went to denounce the aggressor. The latter came to the police station and hit a colleague of his so that he didn’t register the girl’s complaint. The police officer was also accused of driving under the influence in several months, when he crashed his car into a tree.
During the trial, the policeman resigned. He was obliged not to change his place of residence during three years without the consent of the competent body and to take part in a special treatment or counseling program with a view to improving his behavior.
