Even if the current government made many mistakes, the initialing of the Association Agreement at the Vilnius EaP Summit is the recognition of the good things done in Moldova, the director of the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT, expert Igor Botan said in the program “Politika” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.

Igor Botan said the promise to abolish the visa regime is very important for the Moldovan citizens, while society must be united and must not speak about revolutions as nobody needs something like this. “A very implant thing is happening in Vilnius. After the signing and implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, Moldova will move to the next stage in the European integration process. Ukraine’s scenario will not repeat in Moldova, while the people who support the integration into the Customs Union must know that nothing more happened than Moldova’s coming closer to the EU, to the same extent as to Russia,” stated the expert.

Political analyst Alexei Tulbure said the Association Agreement is a European mechanism for creating a stability area at the border with the EU. It is a program that became a mechanism for supporting a government that has done nothing so far. “After the summit, the euphoria will pass and we will understand that nothing changed. In essence, if they do not contribute to building independent justice and democratic institutions, no Free Trade Agreement will change the situation,” he said.

IDIS “Viitorul” expert Cornel Ciurea said the fact that Ukraine suspended the process of association with the EU will bring Moldova in the spotlight and we will hear many words of praise for Moldova in 2014. “I’m optimistic that this success is a step on the road that we pledged to follow with too much propaganda, but we continue to advance. The events in Kiev showed that the European modernization course is not as irreversible as they think and several revolutions similar to that in Ukraine may happen in Moldova until the implementation of the Association Agreement,” he stated.

Political analyst Bogdan Tardea said the guarantee of the abolition of the visa regime is a victory for the right-wing forces that managed not to discredit the only European integration message. As the pro-European forces of the EaP, such as Georgia and Ukraine, were destroyed, Moldova is the last bastion of this collapsed partnership. That’s why the country may benefit from increased attention on the part of the EU and it is already the adored child, even if it’s not the most obedient one.
