Moldovan penitentiaries will be connected to a new centralized video system. Head of Internal Security of the Penitentiaries Division Alexei Braduceanu told Info-Prim Neo that the system will go live in about a week. Presently, the cameras are being tested. Every prison has 5 to 7 cameras, which will allow saving images up to 3 months old. Cameras are installed in control and passing areas, visiting rooms, package reception rooms and other locations. All prisons, except two institutions in Bender and Leova, has cameras installed. Alexei Braduceanu says that all technical issues will be solved soon and these penitentiaries will also have cameras installed. The project is part of the National Strategy against Corruption. The systems are being installed by a company that won a public tender. The cameras will work 24/7, and in case irregularities are observed, the employees of the Penitentiary Institutions Department will be able to react immediately.
