Slightly over 167,000 violations of traffic rules were logged during the first six months of this year, according to information from the contraventions recording system. The fine payment level stands at 87.58%. The data were presented by the National Patrolling Inspectorate in a response given to IPN News Agency.
In the same period of 2017, there were documented 153,000 contraventions, the fine payment rate being of 86.6%. According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, if the person does not pay the fine within 30 days of the day the fine is set, the punishment decisions are sent to the bailiff.
Speeding is the most often violation. A number of 82,000 violations were recorded in the first six months of 2018.
The automated road traffic supervision system stores data from video cameras set up at 33 intersections and eight road segments in the municipality of Chișinău and from equipment placed on mobile units.
