The international organization “Victory Volunteers” intends to organize and hold over 50 events and activities in 2024, aimed at the pre-patriotic education of the young generation and at keeping alive the memory of the heroes of World War II.
Vladislav Clampa, a volunteer, told a press conference hosted by IPN that the organization plans to continue the “Slovo Pabeditelia” (“Victor’s Word”) project this year. It also aims to conduct a nationwide effort to care for military graves. There will be staged the “Remember Me” exhibition with images from the time of the war. Volunteers will also help war veterans and pay visits to them.
According to Vladislav Clampa, in Moldova the veterans of World War II are not devoted enough attention. The pension they are paid is miserable and those who depart this life are not buried with honors. This shows the current government’s true attitude towards veterans. Their organization will continue to support veterans and pay attention to the educational component of young people.
Anastasia Pascar, student of a Chisinau high school, spoke about the events organized on May 9, such as the Victory Waltz, activities to care for the graves of heroes, but also cultural events, competitions and Olympiads in schools. “We must not forget the veterans who fought for a clear sky overhead. We are obliged to respect the heroes who are alive and who are not so many,” said the student.
Nikita Romenschii, who is responsible for relations with the media at the organization, said that each volunteer makes an enormous contribution to keeping alive the memory of war heroes. He welcomed the involvement of young people in various commemorative events.
Ecaterina Medvedeva, vice-president of the organization, said that Moldova joined the international movement “Victory Volunteers” in 2018 and over 500 events have been held in the country so far. She insisted that this is not a political project.
