The Supreme Court of Justice rejected as inadmissible the appeal filed by a group of parties affiliated with the fugitive politician Ilan Shor against the Central Electoral Commission, which had refused to register the electoral bloc Victorie-Победа for the October 20 presidential election and constitutional referendum. The SCJ ruling was handed down today in the absence of the parties.

On August 7, the CEC refused to register the bloc, citing a number of irregularities.

The bloc was supposed to include the Renaissance Party, the Alternative Force Party, the Chance Party and Victory Party. The CEC decision was challenged, but the Chisinau Court of Appeal upheld the refusal. The bloc went on to appeal at the Supreme Court of Justice.

Earlier, members of the Shor group condemned the decision as “politically motivated”, accusing president Maia Sandu of being behind it. Meanwhile, a district court banned Chance Party for 3 months.
