The strengthening of the Moldova-U.S. Strategic Dialogue was the main subject discussed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland in a meeting held on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip thanked the U.S. side for the constant support provided to Moldova in its European integration efforts and for the financial assistance offered for implementing deferent projects.

The Premier informed the U.S. official about the sociopolitical situation in Moldova, noting that the executive fulfilled over 90% of the measures stipulated in the priority reform action roadmap. It also negotiated a staff-level agreement with the IMF and is to sign the accord with the Fund this October.

Pavel Filip also spoke about the reforms promoted by the executive, especially the public administration reform, the Government reform, the administrative-territorial reform and the reform of the pension system.

For her part, Victoria Nuland said she appreciates the work done by the Government. “I congratulate the Government of Moldova on the achieved results. You showed courage. Go on and you will enjoy our support in the implementation of reforms,” she stated, urging the executive not to miss the chance offered by the IMF and the European Commission and to fulfill all the negotiated conditions.

The interlocutors also conferred on the regional situation and the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. Pavel Filip reiterated the importance of the constant assistance of the U.S. in ensuring peace and stability in Moldova.

Victoria Nuland reiterated her country’s readiness to continue to support the territorial integrity of Moldova and the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict by peaceful ways.
