Victoria Furtună, who is running independently for President, promises to use the presidential veto in case of any law that does not correspond to the Orthodox values. She also promises that “family and work will again become sacred concepts in the Republic of Moldova”, IPN reports.

“I promise to ban LGBT propaganda following the example of Georgia. And, ultimately, I promise that, as long as I hold office as President, I will not initiate and provoke a military conflict because I am faithful and because I love my people,” Victoria Furtună told a press conference.

She noted that the Republic of Moldova is already Europe, but the people have forgotten what true European values mean, not the values that are promised and imposed today. “I want you to understand that I am not against Europe and against integration into the European Union. I am ready to talk to Brussels, to Paris, to go to Berlin, only if this does not go against our interests, our faith and my love for the people,” said Victoria Furtună.

As for the Transnistrian issue the candidate said that “the Russian army keeps the region in a state of peace.” According to her, there are no foreign soldiers there (in the Transnistrian region).

Under the Constitution, the President of the Republic of Moldova promulgates laws. If he/she has objections, the head of state has the right to remit a law to Parliament for reexamination. If the legislature maintains its previously adopted decision, the President must promulgate the law.
