The ex-president of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) Victor Micu, who was dismissed from post on July 16, said the Council’s decision to remove him was a hasty and probably influenced one. He developed the issue in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.
“I do not have evidence, but I consider my dismissal had been prepared for a period and I cannot say by whom,” stated Victor Micu, referring to the recent period after the change of power. “Maybe my personality is associated with the previous government in this meaning. Any institution has a chief and the leadership of the institution should be probably changed.”
Victor Micu said he didn’t cooperate with the ruling party during his first and second terms as president of the SCM. “The cooperation with the Government and Parliament was within legal limits. I wasn’t politically biased, but any person has the right to pronounce,” stated the judge.
He noted he cooperated properly with the Government and took part in different working groups that drafted bills. Even if the judicial system should be independent, this does not mean the system should not cooperate with the other institutions within legal limits.
Victor Micu was fired as president of the Superior Council of Magistracy by the votes of nine Council members of ten attending on July 16.
