According to the geopolitical criteria, the Republic of Moldova is profoundly fissured. At the same time, for the Republic of Moldova the European integration is rather a desideratum, vice director of the Institute of Legal and Political Research of the Academy of Science of Moldova Victor Juc was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Moldova live” on 10 TV channel.
According to him, during 30 years society in Moldova has always been preoccupied with the strategic option. As to the fact that the government during the last part of its mandate proposed enshrining the European objective in the Constitution, Victor Juc said each government can formulate proposals for implementing its desiderata that can be found in the party’s program and electoral platform. “In the Republic of Moldova, there is a vicious practice when particular initiatives are suggested during the last days of the session,” stated Victor Juc.
He noted that the current government led by the Democratic Party, as the previous governments that ruled after the elections of 2009, pleaded for the rapprochement with the European Union. ”Now I think the government feels slightly stricken, especially by the conditionality imposed by the EU, the Council of the EU and more recently by the European Parliament and it seems that it is not topical for a government that faces problems with the European Union to propose this strategic objective. The current government has yet time until the next session and we will see what the denouement is,” said Victor Juc.
