Iurie Leanca is not the most suitable candidate for the post of Prime Minister now that the country faces an economic crisis, political commentator Victor Gurau said in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.
According to Gurau, Iurie Leanca would be an excellent candidate for the post of Deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister. “Leanca is a very good specialist in diplomacy, but does not have studies in economy and would be unable to deal with the most serious problems in the financial-banking sector or the real sector of the economy. He already experienced failure in this respect. I think that an apolitical person from the business sector should be proposed for the post of head of Government. I would suggest Nicolae Chernyi or Vasile Chirtoca, who are successful managers,” he stated.
Gurau considers that Leanca is not suitable for premiership also because he is a party member and represents the interests of the party that fielded him. “Iurie Leanca is a political player proposed by a party and will be unable to be independent. This fact became evident in the case of Banca de Economii and of the Chisinau Airport. Leanca didn’t have the courage to put up resistance. In the electoral period, he made only statements and did nothing concrete,” he stated.
Victor Gurau noted that the Liberals will only gain benefits if they do not vote the Cabinet headed by Iurie Leanca. “If they vote for Iurie Leanca, the Liberals will be applauded and that’s all. If they do not vote, they will be considered victims and will thus get more votes in the local elections. The PL can vote, but will get into a trap and will assume responsibility for the activity of the future government,” he stated.
