Dorin Chirtoaca became the hostage of the situation to which he personally contributed, being directed by his uncle Mihai Ghimpu, who actually brought him into the post of mayor, Victor Chironda, who heads the initiative group for holding a referendum on the dismissal of the mayor of Chisinau, stated in the talk show “Interpol” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

“Things in Chisinau have worsened. A clan consisting of employees elected according to party and kindred criteria was formed at the City Hall. There are over 1,000 inefficient people. This clan plans schemes that will drain the inhabitants of Chisinau for a long time on. The pay parking lot schemes alone amount to €1 million. The ordinary people wait for years to obtain permission for a simple construction, while those who are close to the clan working at the City Hall get authorizations for building multistory buildings overnight. Chirtoaca became the hostage of the situation and cannot change something already,” stated Chironda.

The activist accuses Chirtoaca of supporting the wrongdoings committed at the City Hall. “The best mayors of the world haven’t won three consecutive terms in office, while Chirtoaca won them, but does foolish things, especially in the third term. He won the last term in a shameful way, scaring the people with Russian tanks. This is not a European method of winning elections. He boasts that no mayor did so much as he did. Bu no mayor managed Chisinau for so long. He tries to compare himself with Karol Shmidt, who built a city out of a village, but Chirtoaca built a village out of a city,” he said.

Victor Chironda also said that the referendum on the dismissal of the mayor must be interpreted as a democratic exercise and a right of the people. “The referendum does not yet mean that Dorin Chirtoaca will be dismissed. The people are those who will assess the work of the mayor and will decide. If Dorin Chirtoaca is convinced that he manages the city well, there is nothing he should be afraid of,” stated the activist.
