We have formed a new team of politically unaffiliated people who want and are able to solve the problems of Chisinau. The statement belongs to Victor Chironda, who, in a press briefing held on September 13, stated that he filed his candidacy for the position of mayor of the capital, IPN reports.
"We are waiting for the decision of the Electoral Constituency Office and, in parallel, we are preparing for the election campaign," said Victor Chironda. He also specified that he and his team for the Municipal Council were politically unaffiliated and were applying on the platform of the "New Force" social-political movement.
Victor Chironda mentioned that his team was joined by energy expert Sergiu Tofilat.
"The reason why I decided to get involved is because I don't like that decisions regarding the municipality are not taken at the City hall, but at the party headquarters," said Sergiu Tofilat.
The energy expert says he joined Victor Chironda’s group because, together with him, he can make a team of active and professional people who care about Chisinau. "If we have a majority, we can talk about the development of the city. I am an economist, Victor Chironda is a specialist in urban development and he has shown by his own example that, without functions and money, only driven by desire and enthusiasm, one can accomplish many things”, said Sergiu Tofilat.
Victor Chironda is a candidate on the platform of "New Force" social-political movement which was founded on May 28, 1997. Currently, the chairman is former defence minister Valeriu Pleșca.
