Victims of traffic accidents receive aid from Government

Ten people who were disabled in traffic accidents received wheelchairs from the Government. Another 15 children who became orphans because of traffic accidents received material aid of an overall value of 50,000 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. Prime Minister Vlad Filat stated during a meeting with the victims that the number of traffic accidents was worrying and one of the main causes was the poor quality of roads. “I hope that his aid will make things at least a little easier for you”, he said. Minister of Health Andrei Usatai added that this action was only the first of a series meant to help these people. Authorities promise medical equipments and discounts for medicines. Veacslav Bosca from Sangera, Chisinau Municipality, has been chair-ridden for 11 years. He says he got disabled because a lack of attention while driving. He doesn't remember the moment when the crash happened. He woke up with several traumas, his back being the most damaged part. The backbone injury immobilized him. Lidia Simonian from Floresti district raises four underage granddaughters. The children's parents died in a car accident 3 years ago. The only aid for the family is 400 lei monthly. “I'm a driver and I advise everyone to be more careful and drivers should respects each other more. A serious problem are our roads, which cause frequent accidents”, said the woman. In the first 10 months of the year, 334 people died and about 3000 were injured in traffic accidents in Moldova. In October 2005, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution inviting governments to mark the World Day of commemorating victims of traffic accidents on the third Sunday of November.
