The victims of political repression who lost their possessions as a result of naturalization or confiscation will be entitled to financial assistance by way of compensation. The Cabinet on November 2 approved two decisions to allocate money for the purpose, IPN reports.
A sum of 10.6 million lei will be allocated from the state budget for making restitution to 110 beneficiaries from different districts of the country, including the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. The compensation will match the value of the confiscated or lost property.
Under the procedure, if the value of the property is lower than 200,000 lei, the compensation will be paid within three years. If it’s higher, the payment period will be extended to five years.
