The victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and the families of persons who died as a result of this catastrophe will receive higher pensions as of January 1, 2019, IPN reports, quoting a legislative initiative that aims to ensure the social protection of the participants in the Chernobyl cleanup. The initiative was endorsed by the Cabinet.
Thus, the recipients of pensions for severe disabilities will get by 400 lei more a month. The pension of those with accentuated disabilities will rise by 300 lei, while the persons with medium disabilities will benefit from a rise of 200 lei.
The pensions paid in the case of loss of the maintainer– families of persons who died because of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster –will get by 200 lei more for each family member.
The costs associated with the implementation of the changes will be covered with 2019 state budget funds.
